Infra Project Manager
 
Location: Cork 
Duration:  6+ months contract highly extendable
 
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Project Manager to lead and deliver large-scale Network Infrastructure Projects across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project management of network transformation initiatives, including LAN/WAN, Data Centre, Cloud Networking, Security Infrastructure, Wireless, and Network Modernisation projects.
The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, project governance, risk management, vendor coordination, and technical understanding of networking technologies to ensure successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, and timelines.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of large-scale network infrastructure projects.
  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycle including requirements gathering, design reviews, implementation planning, deployment, testing, and handover.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including Network Engineers, Security Teams, Infrastructure Teams, Application Teams, Vendors, and Business Stakeholders.
  • Drive network transformation, migration, refresh, consolidation, and expansion initiatives across multiple sites and geographies.
  • Manage deployment activities for:
    • LAN/WAN Infrastructure
    • Data Centre Networking
    • Wireless Networks
    • Firewalls and Network Security
    • Cloud Networking Platforms
  • Ensure adherence to project governance, change management, compliance, and security standards.
  • Track project progress and provide regular status reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks, dependencies, and issues and proactively implement mitigation plans.
  • Manage project budgets, procurement activities, vendor contracts, and commercial governance.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings, steering committee reviews, and executive project updates.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer, documentation, operational readiness, and smooth transition to support teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption of project management best practices.

Essential Skills / Knowledge / Experience
Experience

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Project Management.
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale Network Infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing multi-location and global infrastructure deployments.
  • Strong track record of managing projects involving network transformation and modernization.

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of:
    • Enterprise Networking (LAN/WAN)
    • Cisco, Juniper, Arista or equivalent network platforms
    • Wireless Infrastructure
    • Network Security & Firewalls
    • Data Centre Networking
  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure, IT Operations, and IT Service Management frameworks.

Project Management Skills

  • Strong expertise in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.
  • Experience in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent risk, issue, dependency, and change management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.

Stakeholder & Leadership Skills

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and customer-facing environments.
  • Strong vendor and partner management experience.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

Preferred Certifications

  • PMP / PRINCE2 Certification
  • ITIL Foundation or Higher
  • Agile/Scrum Certification
  • Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) or equivalent networking certifications – Good to Have

Candidates should hold appropriate RTWs for Ireland i.e. Stamp1G, Stamp 4, Irish/British/EU passport.
