eir evo talent are currently inviting applications for a Network Security Engineer role. This is a 6-month contract position requiring 3–4 days per week. The role is based in Dublin and operates on a hybrid working model across a fortnightly schedule.
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Network Security Engineer to support network infrastructure modernization, segmentation, and operational stability. The role focuses on implementing secure architecture designs, deploying upgraded hardware, and ensuring reliable network performance in a production environment.
This position is ideal for an engineer who is comfortable executing designs created by architects while also contributing technical insights and operational troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Network Segmentation
- Implement and maintain segmentation solutions using Cisco Systems ISE
- Configure policies, authentication rules, and access controls
- Support identity-based network enforcement and monitoring
Network Deployment & Redesign
- Configure and deploy network infrastructure based on architect designs
- Review existing topology and assist with improvement initiatives
- Support structured rollout of new network designs
Infrastructure Upgrades
- Replace legacy switches with modern supported hardware
- Perform firmware and software upgrades on network devices
- Ensure minimal disruption during upgrades
Firewall Environment Support
- Support rollout and integration of Cisco Firepower firewalls
- Collaborate with external vendors implementing firewall changes
- Assist with validation, configuration review, and testing
Network Management Platform
- Assist deployment of Cisco Catalyst Center
- Use platform for provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Support automation and centralized management adoption
Operational Tasks
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues
- Install, configure, and maintain routers and switches
- Maintain network documentation and diagrams
- Monitor network health and performance metrics
Wireless (Future Scope)
- Assist with pilot Wi-Fi implementation if required
- Support configuration and troubleshooting of wireless infrastructure
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking environments
- Strong understanding of:
- Routing & switching
- VLANs and segmentation
- Network security principles
- Experience with Cisco network infrastructure
- Ability to deploy network configurations from design documentation
- Troubleshooting experience in production environments
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with Cisco ISE deployments
- Exposure to Cisco Firepower firewall platforms
- Experience implementing network upgrades or migrations
- Familiarity with centralized network management platforms
- Wireless networking experience
