Location: Dublin (Onsite / Customer-facing)
Salary:
Up to €120,000 base OTE €170,000

This high ‑impact programme spans a number of business-critical domains, including enterprise and carrier sales, strategic account management, IP and wireless network solutions, and next‑ ‑generation renewables technologies such as solar and battery storage.
This role outlined below is part of this strategic hiring project.

Role Overview
A leading global energy technology provider is seeking a commercially focused BESS Business Development Manager to join a multidisciplinary team covering grid, product (renewables and sustainability), and policy (regulatory engagement). This is a senior, revenue-driven position focused on monetising Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and growing market share across utility and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers in Ireland.

The role focuses on helping customers understand how to invest in battery storage and generate revenue by selling energy back into the grid, using advanced data, market insight, and internal expertise.

Key Objectives

  • Monetise Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Enable customers to generate returns from battery investments
  • Increase market share with existing customers
  • Win new customers across electricity, balancing, and capacity markets
  • Position battery solutions as trusted, bankable assets

 
Key Responsibilities
BESS Commercial & Financial Leadership

  • Own the commercialisation and monetisation of BESS solutions
  • Clearly articulate investment models and revenue streams for battery assets
  • Translate technical, grid, and policy inputs into clear financial value propositions
  • Support customers in optimising returns from balancing markets, capacity markets, and energy arbitrage

 
Business Development & Sales

  • Lead new business development for BESS across Ireland
  • Grow and deepen relationships with existing customers
  • Manage and close complex, high-value sales cycles
  • Develop opportunities across utility-scale and C&I battery projects, including solar co-location

 
Customer & Market Engagement

  • Sell directly into utility and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers
  • Engage with aggregators and market participants to enable grid participation
  • Build trusted relationships with major energy providers and investors

 
Market Context
The battery storage market is at an early but rapidly accelerating stage, with limited commercial capacity today and significant growth forecast over the coming years. This role offers the opportunity to shape market strategy and capture substantial value as capacity scales.

Candidate Profile


Essential Experience

  • Proven sales and business development background within BESS or energy storage
  • Strong experience commercialising battery energy storage solutions
  • Understanding of electricity, balancing, and capacity markets
  • Experience selling into utilities and/or Commercial & Industrial customers
  • Track record of closing large, complex deals

 
Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with aggregators or energy trading models
  • Exposure to solar plus battery co-located projects
  • Strong knowledge of the Irish energy market and regulatory environment
