Operations Director – Telecoms (Operate & Maintain)

Our client is a rapidly scaling business delivering mission-critical network deployment, maintenance and customer connectivity programmes across Ireland, the UK and internationally. Having achieved significant growth in recent years and with ambitious plans to double revenue over the coming years, they are now seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead and grow their Operate & Maintain division.

This is a genuinely exciting leadership opportunity for an ambitious operations professional who wants to do more than simply manage an existing function. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the business, building operational capability, strengthening customer relationships and contributing to future commercial growth.

The Role

As Operations Director, you will take full responsibility for the delivery and growth of a large portfolio of telecoms maintenance, service and customer installation programmes across Ireland and the UK. You will oversee operational performance, team leadership, client engagement and commercial success while ensuring the business continues to scale effectively.

This position combines operational leadership, people management, customer engagement and commercial responsibility, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building teams, improving performance and helping to grow a business.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of telecoms maintenance and customer installation programmes.
  • Own service delivery performance across field operations, scheduling and resource deployment.
  • Drive operational excellence through KPI management, governance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Build scalable operational models to support future contract growth.


Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop large operational teams in a field-based environment.
  • Create a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement and customer outcomes.
  • Develop organisational structures, onboarding programmes and capability frameworks.
  • Support workforce growth plans in line with business expansion objectives.

Customer & Commercial Management

  • Build trusted relationships with key customers and senior stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing customer accounts and service offerings.
  • Support bids, presentations and new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to convert growth opportunities into successful operational delivery.
  • Take ownership of revenue, margin and overall operational performance.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Significant leadership experience within telecommunications, utilities, infrastructure, field services or engineering operations.
  • Experience managing large field-based operational teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and previous P&L responsibility.
  • A proven track record of scaling teams, driving operational improvement and supporting business growth.
  • Experience managing customer relationships at a senior level.
  • Strong understanding of service delivery environments governed by KPIs and SLAs.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders, build high-performing teams and drive strategic initiatives.

Location

  • Ireland or UK based.
  • Hybrid working model.
  • Regular travel across Ireland and the UK.
  • Potential international travel as the business continues to expand.
