Senior Cyber Security Engineer – Long‑Term Daily‑Rate Contract (Hybrid, 3 Days Onsite)

eir business talent is partnering with a major public‑sector organisation to secure an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer for a long‑term daily‑rate contract. This role plays a key part in strengthening cyber resilience, maturing security controls, and supporting a national digital services environment.
 
This hybrid contract requires three days onsite each week at the organisation’s Leinster‑based headquarters, located within easy commuting distance of Dublin via primary motorway routes.
 
Role Overview
The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and operating enterprise‑grade security controls across cloud and on‑premises environments. You will support regulatory and compliance requirements, including alignment to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, GDPR Article 32, NIS2 expectations, and NIST SP 800‑53.
 
This is a strategic technical role with strong visibility, contributing to enterprise security architecture, operational security processes, and ongoing cyber maturity initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities
– Implement security controls across IAM, endpoint protection, network segmentation, logging/monitoring, backup/restore, vulnerability management and secure configuration.
– Align controls to ISO 27001:2022 Annex A, NIS2, GDPR Article 32, and NIST 800‑53.
– Design and maintain runbooks, control baselines, Statements of Applicability, risk registers, and audit evidence.
– Support incident-response development and reporting processes.
– Conduct supplier security due diligence and enforce minimum cyber requirements.
– Provide technical leadership across cloud and data‑protection safeguards (encryption, key‑management, restore testing, resilience).
– Produce structured monthly/quarterly security dashboards, KPIs and compliance evidence.
– Collaborate closely with internal teams, external suppliers and stakeholders.
 
Experience Required
– 7+ years working in cyber security engineering, architecture, or security operations.
– Experience delivering and evidencing controls aligned to ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR, and NIST 800‑53.
– Strong technical background across cloud, infrastructure, IAM, network security, vulnerability management and incident response.
– Proven experience preparing audit-ready documentation and compliance artefacts.
– Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
