IT Senior Buyer – IT Category Manager
Location : Dublin
Duration : 12-month contract with further extension
Description:
Our client has an opening for a contractor to cover a temporary absence for an IT Category Manager to be located in its Dublin, Ireland office. You will be joining an established IT procurement function that is supporting a global business. The client is currently undergoing a strategic divestiture of its Engineered Distribution Systems (EDS) business unit. As part of this role you will be supporting both the day to day sourcing of the remaining business and the transition activities required to support the new EDS SCM team being established, we are seeking a dynamic IT Category Manager that can support the business through this pivotal time in our journey.
Your Role
· Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies for IT procurement, focus area will be, engineering software and IT services
· Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for complex IT categories with significant organizational impact
· Analyse market trends, supplier capabilities, and internal requirements to identify optimization opportunities
· Negotiate and manage enterprise agreements with key technology vendors and service providers
· Partner with IT stakeholders to understand business requirements and align procurement strategies accordingly
· Drive cost savings, risk mitigation, and value creation across the IT category
· Manage supplier relationships to ensure contractual compliance and value realisation
· Implement innovative procurement approaches that leverage emerging technologies and methodologies
· Provide category expertise and guidance to procurement teams and business stakeholders
· Lead cross-functional teams in complex sourcing projects and digital transformation initiatives
Your Background
· 8+ years of procurement experience with at least 5 years specializing in IT category management, experience in Professional Services category would be desirable.
· Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management
· Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software licensing models, cloud services, and emerging technologies
· Experience managing enterprise-wide technology agreements and complex vendor relationships
· Understanding of IT & Professional Services engagement models, rate structures, and delivery methodologies
· Track record of successfully managing consulting firms, system integrators, and other IT & professional service providers
· Experience with statement of work (SOW) development, negotiation, and management
· Knowledge of resource augmentation models and contingent workforce management
· Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and value improvements
· Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with procurement systems and data analysis tools
· Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Technology, or related field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred
· Professional certification preferred (CPSM, CSCP, CIPP, or similar)
Candidates should hold appropriate RTWs for Ireland i.e. Stamp1G Spousal, Stamp 4, Irish/British/EU passport.
